Biography(ies)

Frédérick Maheux is a multimedia artist whose main interests are the emerging subcultures of the digital age, eschatological futurology, and speculative realism. Aside from his work in experimental and documentary cinema, he creates noisy video games, produces industrial music under the pseudonym Un Regard Froid, and practices the art of analog collage. He is currently a doctoral student in communications at UQAM and a student member of Hexagram and Homo Ludens. He is interested in video game creation as a methodology for conspiring with noise.

AS PART OF THE CHANTIER IA, SPOROBOLE WELCOMES FRÉDÉRIC MAHEUX FOR A RESEARCH AND CREATIVE RESIDENCY ON THE TOOLS AND CHALLENGES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.

This short residency will last four weeks.

Cyborg Tarot is a generator of mutant tarot cards. The tarot is considered here as an android that exposes how bodies and technical devices amplify, contaminate, and alter one another. This project seeks to deepen the speculative potentials of tarot as defined by the Italian technoccultist organization, Gruppo di nun: “Tarot brings to light the idea that the cosmos is a cybernetic organism in a continuous process of recombination”. The project aims to transform the current prototype into a physical installation that the public could interact with, making Cyborg Tarot an embodied entity that metamorphoses through its encounters.
