Machine-artists coming to transform digital creation, algorithms that play GO with unsuspected moves, or fascinating conversational assistants on the edge of the Turing test, a new AI revolution has been taking shape since 2017, notably thanks to the arrival of “Transformers” algorithms. Once again, a capacity that was thought to be particularly human is in doubt: creativity. Will machines surpass humans in this area?

In his conference, Flavien Chervet suggests providing possible answers to different questions:

  • How can AI be integrated into the creative process in a new way and thus become a new artistic tool?
  • How can AI go beyond being a simple tool to become a new artistic medium (as photography was in its time), and thus open up a new art?
  • Is it possible, for certain algorithms, to develop their own aesthetic point of view and autonomous creativity, and thus become real, full-fledged players in the artistic scene?

This talk is part of our Chantier AI and closes the exhibition I########### A########### presented in the gallery, curated by Nathalie Bachand and Sofian Audry.
