Pierce Warnecke
Pierce Warnecke‘s work is at the frontier of experimental music, digital art and video art, and is strongly influenced by the observation of the effect of time on matter: modification, deterioration and disappearance. To explore these observations, he likes to imagine a non-existent problem, an unreal hypothesis or a fictitious science as a basis for artistic research. This imagined false trail then takes shape through a process of collecting, filtering and modifying existing phenomenas (objects, data, recordings) and continues with a readaptation of this recovered material into a parallel context where symbols, significant meanings and cultural connections become residual ghosts. The dominant threads of his installations are the omnipresent but non-explicit narrative and the use of raw objects and materials in dialogue with a technology that has been returned to its stool status.
He collaborates with artists such as Frank Bretschneider, Matthew Biederman and Keith Fullerton Whitman. He has presented his work at MUTEK, CTM, Elektra, KW Institut, La Biennale NEMO, Martin Gropius Bau, MAC Montreal, Scopitone, LEV Festival, SXSW, and is composing several sound and visual pieces for the Hexadome of the Institute for Sound and Music in Berlin. His music is released on Raster and Room 40; he is represented by DISK Agency, Berlin.
