Estelle Schorpp

Estelle Schorpp is a French-born, Montreal-based sound artist, composer, and researcher active in the fields of experimental music and sound ecology.
Through research-creation, she develops projects that critically and creatively explore our relationship with the sonic environment. Drawing from disciplines such as sound ecology, sound studies, media theory, the history of science, acoustics, and psychoacoustics, her polymorphic approach blends performance, sound installation, algorithmic composition, academic discourse, and scientific writing.
Her immersive, ever-evolving sonic landscapes—marked by shimmering, ambiguous textures and the use of field recordings—seek to offer both a physical and intellectual experience, with listening at their core.
Her work has been presented internationally at festivals such as La Biennale di Venezia (IT), Ars Electronica (AT), MUTEK (MX, CA, AR, JP), Akousma (CA), FIMAV (CA), Le Mans Sonore (FR), Exhibitronic (FR, DE), and MuTeFest (FI). Her research has been featured at conferences including ISEA22 (SP), CIRMMT (CA), Université de Montréal (CA), and EHESS (FR), and she regularly publishes peer-reviewed papers as a lead or co-author.
Estelle Schorpp holds an MFA from École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and a Master of Music from the Université de Montréal.
