Jérémie Martineau
Jérémie Martineau is a Montreal-based audiovisual artist, composer and researcher, active in the fields of experimental and visual music.
He uses tools and methods from research and creation to develop projects that take a critical and creative look at our relationship with the environment, with ourselves and with others. His polymorphous approach combines audiovisual performance, videomusic, instrumental and acousmatic composition and installation, with communication and academic writing. His work develops an approach based on vulnerability and intimacy in the digital arts, using tools such as audiovisual spatialization, sound-image relations, field recording, noise and silence to articulate a sensitive multisensory experience.
His composition work is funded by several research and creation grants and has been presented internationally at festivals such as ICMC (US), SOUND/IMAGE (UK), The Performing Media Festival (US), AV@CMU (US), NoiseFloor (UK, PT). He won the JTTP award from the Canadian Electroacoustic Community (CEC) for his work Distractions, Horizons and the Student Award from the Centre Interdisciplinaire de Recherche en Musique, Médias et Technologies (CIRMMT) for his psychophysiological research work on immersion.
