SOIRÉE PERFORMANCES | FESTIVAL DU TEXTE COURT

SEBASTIAN DICENAIRE . DUO MASSECAR • D'ORION . OANA AVASILICHIOAEI

Saturday, May 27, 2023 – 8:00 pm

As part of the Festival du texte court under the auspices of the Maison des arts de la parole, Sporobole presents three performances that put language into play.

Oana Avasilichioaei will present excerpts from “Operator”, a multimedia performance that uses video, voice, electronics, objects and contact microphones to address themes of surveillance and control, as well as a second work, which will emphasize the agentivity of the voice and vocal play.

Sebastian Dicenaire will present the first episode of “Pamela”, a multimodal and sprawling project. At the beginning, a crazy romance novel, infected by a poetic virus that deregulates the “language” system of Barbie’s smooth world. The project gets out of hand and takes on the appearance of an uncontrollable philosophical tract, mixed with a trashy sitcom and a Greek tragedy. Very quickly, during the writing, pieces of the book detach themselves towards the sound, float in vocal weightlessness out of the book to crystallize in the form of performances of “cinema for the ear”, based on old soundtracks of kitsch films.

The duo Massecar – d’Orion will propose a personal and more theatrical re-reading of certain passages of L’Apocalypse de Jean, a landmark work by French concrete music composer Pierre Henry (1917-2017). Originally, we can understand this work as a manifesto, a defense of the powers of musique concrète and audio art, capable of eliciting inner visions and pictorial representations in the listener. Subtitled “electronic reading in five times”, L’Apocalypse has for “soloist” the voice of Jean Négroni.

It’s free!
