The notion of place is my main source of inspiration.
With wide, contemplative shots, I try to create atmospheres
from spaces that we pass through without paying too much attention.
I keep a certain distance from my filmed subjects,
preferring introspective observation.
This time, in a minimalist, direct setting,
I engage with others. Here, immigrants
taking French courses at the Centre St-Michel (Sherbrooke, Canada).
A crossing of territories and cultures is implied
in this brief space of time between us.

Filming took place in 2021 and 2023 with participants at various levels at the start of their francization process.
