La Quadrature : Corpus / Laboratory
From July 28 to August 1, 2025
Corpus is a choral quadriptych work that offers a different vision of female bodies and their relationships to the world around them.
Corpus presents a reversal of our aesthetic perceptions in response to the outrageous exploitation of female bodies in social and physical spaces, akin to the impact of industrial practices on the environment. The vision of Corpus unfolds across four walls, balancing between reality and fiction, contemplation and movement, tension and disappearance.
This weaving of voice, sound, and image invites a more sensitive and visionary connection to the body. Corpus comes to life through four poetic sound narratives—scores along which four bodies move, each dancing in a different landscape. Sound guides the listeners through these various spaces, where each narrative builds a chimerical setting that spatializes the presence of each storyteller from a different background. These two realms meet both in the projection space and in the intimate experience of headphone listening.
In Sporobole’s laboratory, sound artist Véronique Girard and director Céline Jantet will weave an auditory thread between the room’s two spaces and the headphones to offer visitors a reflective listening experience within this dreamlike premonition.
The artists wish to thank the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des arts de Montréal for their support.
