Romy Boutin St-Pierre
Romy Boutin St-Pierre is a filmmaker working in both fiction and documentary, whose work explores power dynamics and otherness. A graduate in international relations and Arabic, she first worked as a video journalist at Radio-Canada before dedicating herself entirely to cinema, working between Quebec, Morocco, and Lebanon.
In 2023, she co-founded Les Émotives inc., an emerging female-led production company in Quebec focused on auteur, feminist, and regional cinema.
Her filmography includes Amato (2020, premiered at Festival Regard), Votre appel est important pour nous (2023, broadcast on Radio-Canada and TV5Unis), and Comme toi (2024, awaiting its world premiere). She is currently in post-production on her first feature documentary, À la rescousse du reste du monde, filmed in Lebanon and Quebec, in which she seeks to deconstruct clichés surrounding the representation of refugees.Based in Quebec, Romy serves on the board of directors of Spira. Her commitment to independent cinema drives her to champion sensitive and singular narratives, where form and emotion intertwine to challenge our perceptions of others and ourselves. With Pixel fantôme, her upcoming documentary on grief and artificial intelligence, she continues her exploration of memory and the persistence of traces, both human and digital.
