Since 2001, violinist, composer and performer Jessica Moss has been a force of depth in contemporary experimental music. In her solo career, she has developed an inventive approach to building sonic environments in where instrumentation and vocalization are treated as interconnected strands, woven together into aural tapestries. She is particularly noted for the way she uses this process to faithfully recreate her multi-dimensional compositions during her performances. In her second solo album, Entanglement, released in October 2018, she channels quantum theory as a metaphor for creating energetic connections through esoteric processes. Using the violin (and occasionally, voice) as sound source, her compositions are set in motion like entangled particles – spinning, ricocheting, distorting, warping and stretching in extra-dimensional space. Moss’s compositions on Entanglement invoke the striving for communication and connection in isolation, and the mysterious energies that bind the singular and the universal.
