Jean Dubois
Jean Dubois teaches at the School of Visual and Media Arts at the Université du Québec à Montréal. He is a founding member of the Hexagram network and served for over a decade on the board of directors of VOX, Centre de l’image contemporaine. His experimental video installation practice explores identity and human behavior in relation to the social and aesthetic issues emerging from digital culture. He does not view his works as art objects, but rather as variable artistic devices.
He is currently interested in subverting generative artificial intelligence technologies in order to develop a critical imaginary of sociobotics. His works have been regularly exhibited in national museums and international festivals, including Ars Electronica; the Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Roma Testaccio; the International Digital Art Biennial; the Musée des arts et métiers; the Mutek festival; Québec’s Manif d’art; the Montreal Biennial; the Incheon International Digital Art Festival; the Espace [IM] Média festival; the International Biennial of Media Art in Melbourne; and the Shanghai International Gallery Exhibition of Media Arts.
