ALIZÉE ARMET
Alizée Armet is a Basque artist and researcher. She holds a PhD in contemporary art research from the Universidad del País Vasco / EHU (Spain). She lives and works in Montreal and is currently project manager for the ARTE/SCIENZA program at Génération DaVinci in Montreal.
Through her practice in biomedia, Alizée Armet questions the legacies of anthropocentrism and explores the relationships between living beings, technology, and computational systems. Her works take the form of systemic installations integrating biology, artificial intelligence, sensors, 3D-printed objects, digital devices, and living materials (plants, bacteria, soil). Drawing on scientific methods and close collaborations with researchers and engineers, she develops process-based works that envision ecological, technopoetic, and posthuman futures.
Her work has been presented in numerous international contexts, including Ars Electronica (Austria), the Kapelica Gallery and the Kersnikova Institute (Slovenia), the WRO Media Art Biennale (Poland), the Biorobotechnica Festival (Italy), and the Frac Nouvelle-Aquitaine (France). She has also exhibited in Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Bulgaria.
Winner of several grants and awards, she received the Art Eco Conception prize (2024) from ArtOfChange 21.
Alongside her artistic practice, Alizée Armet is regularly invited to speak at art schools, universities, and international conferences on issues related to digital ecology, sympoiesis, art and science, and life technologies. Her research has been published in academic and specialized journals, including AusArt, Makery, Interférences numériques, and Revista Mundana.
