Georges Roussel

Georges Roussel is a young acoustics researcher specialized in spatial audio living in Sherbrooke. He obtained his master’s degree in acoustic research from Le Mans University in 2015 and his PhD in 2019. During his PhD in collaboration with Orange Labs and Le Mans University he works on personal sound zones, allowing several people to listen to independent audio content at distinct positions using multiple loudspeakers while moving around. His work has led to two patents and makes it possible to use such systems in real time. He later became interested in using his skills outside the industrial environment and looks towards sound creation to promote access to science to a wider audience through art. He is currently completing a post-doctorate through a collaboration between the Groupe d’Acoustique de l’Université de Sherbrooke (GAUS), UQAM and the Sporobole Centre en arts actuels based in Sherbrooke. This collaboration gives an artistic color to his research work in acoustics by combining art and science in a context of artist/researcher co-creation.
