Alexandre Castonguay

Alexandre Castonguay works in the field of new media. His works exploit both obsolete technology and free software. His recent community art projects, Cocíclo and Agit P.O.V., lie at the intersection of social and artistic concerns, and attempt to restore a tangible, collective character to our experience of the city.

His work has been presented in Canada and at numerous exhibitions in Paris, New York, Mexico City, Berlin and Beijing, among others. His work can be found in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, and many other public and private collections.

A founding member of the Artengine media laboratory, Alexandre Castonguay is a professor at UQAM’s École des arts visuels et médiatiques.
