Physical performance, facing death to find meaning in life, the Romanticism of epic adventures and contact with the wilderness create an entire culture of legends and mysteries around adventurers and their exploits which sometimes borders on the magical. With <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><em>Le paysage miraculeux<\/em><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">Am\u00e9lie-Laurence Fortin, influenced by her own adventures at sea and in the mountains, by the exploits of her contemporaries, by the ancestral and scientific study of plants, by architects and theorists of mobile habitation and by stories from bygone times of the terror and incomprehension of nature, offers up a journey in a landscape that is at once sublime and terrifying.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/106983576\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\/\/\/\/\/<\/p>\n<p>In partnership with the Mus\u00e9e de la nature et des sciences de Sherbrooke, Sporobole invites you to a round table entitled Les nouveaux territoires de l&#8217;explorateur. The evening will begin with a visit to the exhibition Le paysage miraculeux by artist Am\u00e9lie Laurence Fortin at 6:30 p.m., and the group will then move to the Museum, located a few steps away, for the 7 p.m. round table.<\/p>\n<p>This round table will provide an opportunity to shed new light on the concept of the explorer, on the different ways of exploring the territory to discover it, to inhabit it, to exploit it and to protect it. In the current socio-economic context, land issues are taking on new and even crucial importance. So what is the new role of explorers?<\/p>\n<p>The keynote speaker is Mr. Serge Payette, Professor in the Department of Biology at Universit\u00e9 Laval and holder of the Nordic Research Chair in Disruption Ecology. Biologist on the Amundsen research boat and curator of the Louis-Marie herbarium at Universit\u00e9 Laval, he is also a regular member of the Centre d&#8217;\u00e9tudes nordiques. Mr. Payette has been awarded the title of Scientist of the Year 2013 by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. That same year, Mr. Payette published Northern Flora of Quebec and Labrador, an essential source of information on the plant heritage of northern Quebec-Labrador.<\/p>\n<p>The round table will also be composed of the Head of the Conservation and Security Department at Mont M\u00e9gantic National Park.
