L’INCALCULABLE CORPS GLITCH : UN ASSEMBLAGE PROVISOIRE

Marie-Ève Levasseur

For L’incalculable corps glitch : un assemblage provisoire – her first solo exhibition in Quebec – Marie-Ève Levasseur proposes a body of work covering  six years of work, from 2016 to the present, including brand new creations, such as a virtual reality work created during a residency at Sporobole. Bringing together a wide range of mediums and approaches – from installation, to video, to augmented and virtual reality – the exhibition takes an empathic  look at the body and its physical reality, its sensitive dimension and its potential for emancipation and optimization through the technological lens.

Focusing on intimacy, the interactions, the ecosystems and the perception of language and images through screens, her work is fueled  by feminist science fiction, including the writings of Donna Haraway and Rosi Braidotti. Her projects call for speculative fabulation, evoking contexts in which fictional devices are deployed. L’incalculable corps glitch proposes a reflection that opens an cross-species dialogue in order to reflect on the system in which we live and its possible futures.
