Louis Couturier and Jacky Georges Lafargue will talk about their work on friday, march 14th at 2 PM in the gallery.
Louis Couturier and Jacky Georges Lafargue having been working as a duo since 1991 in France and Quebec, seeking the right form for their works out of the images they record and materials they find in isolated or unusual places. Their approach is the following: range over the environment by foot, photograph and film it, meet women and men, create singular and special moments. They develop visual and reflexive content of various kinds: video and photography installations, multidisciplinary sculpture, photographs and drawings on paper.
Their recent projects have been produced in Radisson and Chisasibi in the James Bay region (2013), Murdochville in the Gaspé region (2012) and Asbestos in the Estrie region (2012). Their work has been exhibited most recently at the University of Rochester (Rochester, New York, February-March 2014), the Yukon Arts Centre (Whitehorse, Yukon, 2013), the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (2011-12), the Musée de Picardie (Amiens, France, 2011-12) and the Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery (Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, 2011-12).
