RAIQ / HAPPY HOUR
As part of its happy hour activities deployed throughout Quebec, the Regroupement des arts interdisciplinaires du Québec (RAIQ) is pleased to meet with the Sherbrooke arts community and its audience on April 18 in Sporobole at 3 p.m. in the presence of Érick d’Orion.
In a friendly and discussion-friendly atmosphere, the RAIQ’s happy hour meetings provide opportunities to discuss current issues in interdisciplinary practices. Your ways of doing and disseminating, the reception of the public, your concerns, your joys and visions as to the future of their development on the geopolitical, economic and artistic level will be welcome. RAIQ is working to develop interregional, intergenerational and transdisciplinary alliances and collaborations across Quebec.
Come in large numbers to listen, discuss, have a drink, and spend some time in good company in a warm place in the Eastern Townships, to mobilize and better welcome a spring that promises to be warm in terms of emancipatory actions. It will also be possible to register on site to become a member of the RAIQ and thus contribute to the influence of inter-art practice on a national scale. Welcome to all of you!
Érick d’Orion (CA RAIQ administrator) enjoys an enviable reputation as an audio, installation and new media artist, self-taught composer-musician and curator. In this capacity, he has organized more than a dozen events focusing on audio art and advanced sound creation. He is the founder and artistic director of the organization in production and distribution in audio art and new music Tartarus. Focusing much of his audio research on digital maximalism, Érick d’Orion’s work is closely related to noize, concrete music, free jazz and electroacoustics. His work has been presented in Canada, Europe, Australia, Cuba, Mexico, Cuba and the United States of America. He has benefited from several creative residencies in several places, including the most recent one at the CALQ in Studio Ernest Cormier in Montreal. He develops installation projects where audio and new technologies are combined to create works in continuous motion, becoming both sources and broadcasters of audio. His reflections focus mainly on the reinterpretation, appropriation and re-reading of certain concepts in art history, in particular concrete music, Dadaism and Futurism, all without being obsolete. The redefinition of the acoustic space as well as the relationship between the spectator’s imagination and familiar or falsely mythical images, objects, environments and icons are an integral part of his installation work.
RAIQ Founded in April 2005, the Regroupement des arts interdisciplinaires du Québec is a non-profit organization that brings together and represents companies, presenters and artists working in interdisciplinary arts in Quebec. Its mandate is to defend the professional interests and improve the socio-economic conditions of its members. Through its information, consultation, networking, promotion and training activities, the RAIQ intends to actively participate in the development and influence of the discipline throughout the territory. In a long-term perspective, the RAIQ wishes to make an important contribution to: multiplying exchanges and collaborations between the various stakeholders in the sector in Quebec and elsewhere; fostering better public knowledge of these new art forms; and finally, obtaining fair recognition from the various public authorities for the interdisciplinary arts.
