Tanja Brüggemann
Born in Linz, Austria, Tanja Brüggemann holds degrees in piano, music theory, electronic music and composition. She studied with Adriana Hölszky and Tristan Murail at Mozarteum University Salzburg. She obtained a postgraduate degree in film and audiovisual studies from Łódź Film School in cooperation with the Academy of Music in Łódź, Poland. Tanja lives in Vienna and works in the thousand-year-old St. Florian monastery in Sankt Florian, Austria. She was president of the Upper Austrian Composers Association from 2013 to 2014, board member of the Austrian Composers Association and member of the European Composer & Songwriter Alliance (ECSA). Commissions have been presented at Musikverein Wien (Austria), Wien Modern (Austria), Brucknerhaus (Austria), University Mozarteum Salzburg Solitär (Austria), Cultural Forum (Germany), Musica Contemporanea Bolzano (Italy), Meetingpoint Memory Messiaen (Germany), Musica Moderna (Poland), Austrian Broadcasting Corporation – ORF (Austria), SALT New Music Festival (Canada), Átlátszó Hang (Hungary), Musica Nova (Czech Republic) and North Stradbroke Island – Minjerribah (Australia). Presentations of the AOA cycle, based on PALAOA’s underwater recordings in the Antarctic Ocean, were performed by flutist Sylvie Lacroix on the CD “Flute Extended”, recorded by Stephen Ferguson.
